Greetings 

Continuing the  two WORLD VIRTUAL CHOIR FESTIVAL events, now BANDUNG CHORAL SOCIETY is presenting the 3rd World Virtual Choir Festival.

This Virtual Festival is intended to provide a platform  for activities for Choir singers to continue singing and giving performances.  For the situation during the COVID19 Pandemic is still ongoing and does not provide opportunities for singers to gather, they cannot practice, make performance and attend the Choir Competition as usual before the COVID19 Pandemic.
In addition, by participating in the 3rd World Virtual Choir Festival, singers can stay active and communicate happily with friends and teachers / coaches, and doing special works and make achievements.

The 3rd World Virtual Choir Festival will be held on 30 April - 7 May 2021. The Bandung Choral Society, which has successfully held 3 Virtual Choir Festivals over the years, will present a special quality of organizing and lots of great surprises.  The judges selected are choir experts and conductors from various countries with impressive achievements and works.

In the 3rd World Virtual Choir Festival 2021, apart from various categories for Choir and Solo Singing, Bandung Choral Society provides other Competition Categories, namely: GRAND PRIX VIRTUAL CHOIR.  This category is open for Virtual Choirs who have won a diploma / gold medal from the previous Virtual Festivals. 

Let's participate in the 3rd World Virtual Choir Festival to give each of your Choir singers an opportunity to remain active, creative and healthy during this COVID19 Pandemic.  Hopefully we can all stay happy and safe during this difficult time by continuing to sing.

    A. REGISTRATION

        Phase 1    : EARLY BIRD – 50% off for participants who register until January 15th, 2021

    B. OPENING CEREMONY

        3rd BCS - World Virtual Choir Festival 2021 will hold on April 30th, 2021, by introducing jury and participants then showcasing a special virtual choir video.

    C. WORKSHOP

        This workshop is free for the participants who register in this festival. Each choir participants can send 1 representatives.

    This workshop also open to the public. Provide compelling topics from the choral experts to develop the choir. For further information go to tab ONLINE WORKSHOP below.

    D. FRIENDSHIP CONCERT

        The choir can join this program by displaying a virtual video choir. The virtual choir performance will be published on the YouTube channel of Tommyanto Kandisaputra. For registration please click HERE

    E. VIRTUAL CHOIRS EXCHANGE & COLLABORATION

          The Collaboration Program is a new program at the World Virtual Choir Festival with the aim of creating communication between participants, so that they can get to know each other, build friendship and cooperation in the future. For registration please click HERE

    1.  Participants in this Collaboration program are the choirs who registered as participants of the WVCF3. All Chorus members attend the meeting via the zoom app.
    2.  Each Participant prepares a short presentation about the Choir (max 5 minutes)
    3.  Prepare a short song, traditional game or related music that can be taught online (10-15 minutes)
    4.  In this event can ask each other and communicate actively
    5.  BCS as the "host" of the Collaboration will guide this event.
    6.  Participants must register and attend the event as scheduled.

    1.  Peserta program Kolaborasi ini adalah paduan suara yang terdaftar sebagai peserta WVCF3. Semua anggota Chorus menghadiri rapat melalui aplikasi zoom.
    2.  Setiap Peserta mempersiapkan presentasi singkat tentang Paduan Suara (maksimal 5 menit)
    3.  Siapkan lagu pendek, permainan tradisional atau musik terkait yang dapat diajarkan secara online (10-15 menit)

    JURY PANEL


    JASON MAX FERDINAND is the director of choral activities, professor, and chair of the music department at Oakwood University.  He directs the Aeolians of Oakwood University and, as evidenced by noteworthy awards, has distinguished himself on the national and international choral stages.

    In 2017, he earned the Outstanding Director and Choir of the World awards at the Llangollen International Musical Festival, in Wales. In 2018, his choir won three gold medals at the 10th World Choir Games held in South Africa, and also won the competition’s overall championship in both the Spirituals and University Choir categories. He is a published composer with GIA publications, and is exhilarated about  his new choral series with Walton Music.  In 2018, he was named “Teacher of the Year” by Oakwood University.

    The Aeolians made their first appearance at the national conference of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) in 2019 and the term “they broke ACDA” was used to describe their outstanding presentation.  “Teaching With Heart” is a new book released by Ferdinand and is a useful choral compendium for all choral directors.

    Ferdinand holds non-terminal degrees from Oakwood University, Morgan State University, and a doctorate in choral conducting from the University of Maryland.


    Joseph Kristanto Pantioso M.Mus started his music training by becoming a student of the piano department of Yayasan Pendidikan and commenced his vocal study in the same institution under the tutelage of Catharina W. Leimena , Binu Sukaman and Aning Katamsi.

    In 1994 Joseph became the first winner in the regional level of Lomba Bintang Radio dan Televisi (Radio and Television Star Competition) and the second place winner in the national level.

    In 2000, he won the Golden Artist Award given by Yayasan Pendidikan Musik . In the following year, Joseph furthered his vocal study at Musikhochschule Freiburg in Germany, under the tutelage of Prof. Towako Sato-Schoellhorn, Prof. Aziz Kortel and Prof. H.P. Mueller. In 2006, Joseph completed his study and obtained his Diploma Kuenstlerische Ausbildung Gesang specializing in art song and oratorio performance.

    Joseph took part as an active participant in masterclasses given by Prof. Elizabeth Glauser as an active participant in 2010, and by Prof. Rudolf Piernay and Prof. Grace Bumbry at the Sommer-Akademie in Mozarteum-Salzburgh in 2012.  In 2007, he established Musicasa, an institution for vocal, conducting and piano classes, with Tommy Prabowo. Currently Joseph actively performs in various concerts and recitals with some of the most prominent pianists and conductors in music in Indonesia.


    Lorenzo Donati is a composer, conductor and violonist, who studied with the most acclaimed musicians in Italy and in the world (R. Mirigliano and R. Pezzati in Florence; C. Togni in Fiesole, E. Morricone in Siena, P. Dusapin. in Rome, R. Alessandrini, R. Clemencic, O. Dantone, R. Gabbiani, D. Fasolis, G. Graden, C. Hogset, P. Neumann in Arezzo). He gave concerts performing with Insieme Vocale Vox Cordis, Hesperimenta Vocal Ensemble di Arezzo and UT insieme vocale-consonante winning several  national and international awards (Arezzo, Cantonigros, Gorizia, Lugano, Montreux, Senlis, Varna, Vittorio Veneto). He won with UT the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing 2016.

    In 2007 he won two first prizes at the Concorso Internazionale per Direttori di Coro "Mariele Ventre" di Bologna. 

    From 2010 to 2014 he conducted the Italian Youth Choir.

    From 2016 he conduct the professional choir Coro della Cattedrale di Siena Guido Chigi Saracini.

    His compositions are performed by ensembles as well as soloists around the world and have been published by many Italian publishing houses. His choral works were asked and/or performed by the Choir of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Coro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Coro Giovanile Italiano, Joyfull Company of Londen, St. Jakobs Chamber Choir from Stockholm.

    He won notable awards in international competitions such as Arezzo (1996 e 1999), Gorizia (1999 e 2002), Rome (1999), Avellino (2003), Vittorio Veneto (2007). He publishes with Pizzicato Verlag, Carus Verlag and others.

    He collaborates with several national cultural institutes like the Accademia Chigiana Siena, FENIARCO, Festival Incontro Polifonico Città di Fano, Fondazione Guido d'Arezzo.

    He holds courses on choral music and composition in Italy and abroad (Cina, France, Greece, Indonesia, Russia, Taiwan,  UK) and for important conducting schools. He is often invited to join the jury at international competitions.

    He teaches choral conducting at the Conservatory of Trento.


    Dr. Maria Theresa Vizconde-Roldan finished her Doctor of Musical Arts in Music Education degree at Saint Paul University Manila. She also graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Music in Music Education, cum laude and Master of Arts in Choral Conducting at the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music. 

    She teaches Conducting, Large Ensemble Class and Music Education at the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music and Centro Escolar University Graduate School.

    To propagate the Filipino choral music and in their advocacy to strengthen the children’s choral movement in the Philippines, Theresa, together with her husband Jude, arranges Filipino folksongs and writes choral music for children’s choirs.  Her choral works have been published, performed and premiered at various choral festivals and competitions around the world. 

    She led the Hail Mary the Queen Children’s Choir to choral competitions winning first-ever Children’s Choir of the World title at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in North Wales, United Kingdom and Choir Olympic Champion at the WCG in Bremen, Germany. 

    Presently, Dr. Maria Theresa Vizconde-Roldan is also the Vice President for Projects of the Philippine Choral Directors Association.


    Mat is the founder and Artistic Director of the award-winning Barnsley Youth Choir. As a teacher Mat was recognised early in his career as an outstanding teacher and is now Regional Director for Education for Astrea Academy Trust that serves 27 schools.

    Barnsley Youth Choir involves over 400 children aged 4-24 years old from the local community, in an area of significant deprivation, and is highly inclusive. BYC has won numerous awards since it was founded including, most notably, the Queens Award for Voluntary Service.

    Mat has worked on the jury in some of the world’s most important competitions. He is in demand internationally as a choral coach, clinician and composer/arranger and has worked with choirs fromthe Kodaly School in Hungary and uses this system to develop singers and choirs.

    Mat represents Great Britain on the World Choir Council and, in January 2020, was appointed aMember of the Order of the British Empire for his services to young people and music by the Queen


    Francis Liew, an accomplished choral conductor and impresario, has been actively involved in the choral and performing arts scene in Singapore, for over 35 years. 

    Trained as a lyric tenor under the renowned Singaporean Soprano, the late Mdm Huang Phay Ching, he has performed with premier symphony, opera and chamber choruses, both as soloist and chorus member.

    Francis, with his choirs has joined festivals and competitions in USA, Czech Republic, Canada, Austria, Italy, Malaysia, China, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore. He is often invited to conduct choral and vocal workshops as well as to adjudicate at festivals both locally and abroad.

    His quest for choral excellence and desire to promote the performing arts, has led him to be the founder of 3 festivals namely, “Concordis”,  “Asia Arts Festival” and “Singapore International Dance Challenge” These festivals founded in 2011, 2013 and 2018 respectively, have attracted thousands of participants from 33 countries.


    Josephine Polim is a native Indonesian. She holds Master's of Music in Voice Performance and Collaborative Piano from The University of Akron in Ohio, United States. She earned her Bachelor of Music Degree in Classical Music, majoring in Piano Performance from the UCSI University in Kuala Lumpur. She has won several competitions, such as the Sixth Annual James Tannenbaum Memorial Scholarship Competition, Tuesday Musical Scholarship Competition, and Malaysian Youth Orchestra Festival Diploma Voice Category. She has appeared and performed in several countries like The United States, Australia, South Korea, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia.   

    In addition, Josephine has served as a vocal coach and staff accompanist in the Vocal Arts Program at Interlochen Center of the Arts, Malone University, The University of Akron Opera Lyric Theater, and Nordonia High School. She has been actively giving masterclasses and voice clinics and currently serves as the coordinator of the vocal arts program at Universitas Pelita Harapan, Indonesia.


    Paul Smith is an innovative and creative performer, conductor, composer, an inspirational educator and an empowering public speaker. As co-founder of VOCES8, author of The VOCES8 Method and CEO of the VOCES8 Foundation, his annual programme sees him working globally in prestigious concert venues, festivals, schools and universities.

    The VOCES8 Method, written by Paul, is published by Edition Peters in four languages, and is now being used in thousands of schools in numerous countries around the world. The Method is designed to link specific music-making activities with academic improvement in numeracy, literacy and linguistics.

    As a composer, Paul writes regularly for vocal groups, choirs, orchestras and soloists. 

    As an educator and public speaker, Paul has given speeches and created sessions on music and leadership, teamwork, music and creativity, health and wellbeing, and The VOCES8 Method. He presented a TEDx talk entitled “How can we use music to help us learn?”. 

    Paul is delighted to be an ambassador for Edition Peters, as well as a board member of the 21st Century Musician programme at DePauw University, Indiana. He is hugely grateful for the support from Arts Council England, Vivendi and TM Lewin.


    Pawasut Jodi Piriyapongrat earned her bachelor’s degree in Music Education with honors from Chulalongkorn University; Master of Music in Church Music and Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Music from the University of Southern California, where she studied choral conducting with the late Dr. William Dehning.

    Through her extensive choral experiences, including conducting Thai Youth Choir (2007-2009) and Chulalongkorn University Concert Choir (2007-present), and many collaborative works of the latter with professional Thai and international orchestras, Pawasut has earned her recognition as Thailand’s leading choral conductor, clinician, adjudicator and choral educator with engagements locally and internationally.

    She dedicates much time and energy in bettering choral standards in Thailand through her involvement with Thailand Ministry of Education and initiatives with Chulalongkorn University that include various workshops, an annual choral festival, and choral camps for university choirs in Thailand. Some of her initiatives were in collaboration with American Choral Directors Association.

    She is a full-time faculty member of Music Education Department, Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University.



    Soundarie David Rodrigo, is a Pianist, Music Educator, Choral director, Composer, and Intellectual Property Lawyer. She pursed her musical education at the Royal College of Music, London, specializing in piano performance and piano accompaniment. She also pursued her legal studies at the University of California, Berkeley where she specialized in Entertainment Law, having being a recipient of the Rotary World Peace Scholarship.

    Soundarie is the Founder and Music Director of Sri Lanka’s premiere female ensemble ‘Soul Sounds’ the first choir in Sri Lanka to perform and win awards internationally. Over the last sixteen years Soul Sounds has given highly acclaimed performances in India, Australia, China, Kuwait, Austria, France, USA, Malaysia and South Africa, thus placing Sri Lanka on the map of International choral Music. She is the Founder of one of Sri Lanka’s leading Music Academies - The Soul Sounds Academy focusing on all aspects of music. The Academy focuses on Music Education for young children starting at the age of 5 and has classes for Voice, Piano, Violin, Music Therapy, Drums, Guitar, and basic appreciation of Music classes. Soundarie has directed many Music Productions and has collaborated with many artists for concert recitals.

    Soundarie is also the Sri Lankan Representative on the World Choir Council for INTERKULTUR —the International Organisation that hosts several celebrated International Choral Festivals and Competitions. She also regularly serves as a jury member at international choral competitions. She was one of the judges for the franchised talent show ‘Sri Lanka’s got Talent’ Soundarie plays an important role in the promotion of culture and arts in Sri Lanka and the region. She was the Deputy Director at the SAARC Cultural Centre based in Sri Lanka from 2010 having set up all its programs from inception and later on was Director, Programs for the Colombo Cultural Hub till 2018. Her awards include the SAARC Woman of Achievement Award, the Zonta Award, and the Bunka Award presented by the Japan/Sri Lanka Association.
